Reimagining the patient experience for sick and injured children in an Australian-first partnership 🌟 Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) and the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network have teamed up with The Walt Disney Company to deliver comfort and inspiration to sick kids through iconic Disney characters and storytelling. I am excited that the power of philanthropy has been able to bring this partnership to Australia for the very first time and am very thankful to Disney for making it possible. The impact this partnership will have on the patients and families being cared for in hospital will be extraordinary. Having well-loved characters and well-known stories in the clinical space will lift spirits and allow patients to make happy memories while in hospital. More than 300 interactive murals, ‘magic art’ and digital activations have now officially launched across the Network, with 20,000 Disney-themed care bags also available to support kids through their health journey. Thank you, Disney, for going all in for kids’ health. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eJK3Hzft

This month, Shape Your Future, a program of TSET, is showing you how to add some activity during your day –– maybe even during your holiday festivities:1) Plan a long walk, enjoy the fall colors and talk about what you and your family are thankful for this year.2) Get up and get moving at halftime – with a quick game of family flag football.3) Organize a neighborhood clean-up activity.4) Take the family along to help prepare or serve a meal for those in need in your community.5) Make plans to visit a hospital or nursing home – share your time with someone who might otherwise be alone during the holiday season.

🌟 Lessons from the Wizard of Oz: Embracing Our Inner Strength as Family Caregivers 🌟Reflecting on the Wizard of Oz, we can't help but draw parallels to the incredible journey of family caregivers. Much like the characters who doubted their own capabilities, we often question if we're equipped for the role thrust upon us. But, oh, how we rise to the occasion! The scarecrow, questioning his own intelligence, found himself leading Dorothy to safety. The lion, grappling with a perceived lack of courage, bravely stepped in when Dorothy needed help. And the Tin Man, seeking a heart, revealed a depth of consideration that spoke volumes. In the realm of family caregiving, doubts about our capabilities can be overwhelming, especially when we're thrust into this role in the blink of an eye. Despite these uncertainties, we step up to the plate and do whatever it takes for our loved ones.To all the family caregivers out there, rememeber this: You possess all the qualities needed to care for your loved ones, and you're doing an exceptional job. With each passing day, you grow stronger, more resilient, and remember, you are not alone in this journey. This #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth, let's collectively honor the courage, tenacity, dedication, and compassion that define the incredible work you do. Your commitment is a testament to the strength within, and your compassion shines bright.More on our reflections on Lessons from the Wizard of Oz, can be found at our blog https://lnkd.in/e3BWsWZu#CaregiverStrength #FamilyFirst #CompassionateCaregiving#Sociavi #ChangingTheWayTheWorldAges #TechnologyForGood
