Oprah Winfrey once said, “All people, no matter their walk of life, share one common desire. They want to know: Do you see me? Do you hear me? Does what I say matter to you?”In today’s fast-paced, high-tech world, I’m on a mission to create greater acceptance, belonging, and connection - with yourself and with others. To help create greater acceptance in an unaccepting world so that you feel seen, acknowledged, and supported for who you ARE, not just what you DO in the world. To bring more Dignity to all that we do and how we communicate with each other.Ingredients which seem to be lacking these days… especially in the busy world of work.Wouldn’t you agree? 🤔✅ Dignity allows us to live and work from our core values and emotional drivers to bring our best and feel fulfilled through the contributions we have to share. And yet, what happens when we don’t feel respected in our work and contributions?❌ Communications breakdown, morale drops, and productivity decreases.😳 Stress levels go through the roof, and that DIS-ease can quickly turn into disease in the mind, body, and spirit.🤓 Curious to know how you can increase your alignment, reduce your stress and raise your dignity (personally and professionally)?DM me or click the link below to schedule your complimentary and confidential chat.#dignity #selfworth #communicationskills #leadership

To all leaders: Tomorrow, please take a moment to check in with your people and inquire about their emotional well-being before delving into business topics. Given the sadness that most people faced this week, show kindness and empathy, and let them know you care. It takes a lot of energy to mask the intensified emotions with the sense of duty. And if you also need comfort, remember that uplifting others can also uplift your spirit.

Surprise. Surprise. People who invest in relationships (both meaningful & superficial) are emotionally happier and physically healthier, a 80 year old Harvard study proves. 🎧#TuckerTalk Humans are social beings. We, as individuals and as a species, existentially depend on connections with others. Life is about people/ relationships. Personaly, we have to remember life is not about the money, competition, or achievements, it’s about the people we connect with along the way. As leaders, we have to remember that people and relationships are THE ENDS; not simply a means to use to get to other ends. Leadership is finding ways to engage others in achieving a common goal in ways that empowers them to grow and engage others. The achievements, skills, jobs, goals, etc. are all secondary; just a means to THE ENDS- others. Advocate for others, serve others, and inspire others- that’s #leadership.

"People want to connect. Above almost any other need, human beings long to have another person look into their faces with love and acceptance. The issue is that we lack practical knowledge about how to give one another the attention we crave."David Brooks' journey mirrors ours at Barry-Wehmiller. We wanted our company to be built on principles of caring, so we needed to teach the skills of caring. We needed to train our leaders to get beyond traditional “management” that conditions us to view people as functions to get them to do what we want so we can be successful, not because we care about them. One of the things I love about Grey Search + Strategy is our focus on taking care of ourselves: the whole self, the multifaceted, "trying to do life right" human being kind of care. In 2023, we kicked off a new approach to employee wellness and put the employee in the driver's seat. We drew names, and each month the employee chooses a theme to focus on with the support of Grey leadership (thank you leaders!). We've covered heart month and knowing your numbers, mindfulness and meditation (and delicious smoothies that we can now make in our office kitchen), healthy and positive daily activity (with pedometers and inspirational messages to keep us thinking positive thoughts), a focus on caring for plants, and now I'm excited to announce my theme of self-care in June. I will be the first one to say that self-care is easier said than done. What I do know to be true: when I focus on mind/body/spirit, I show up as a better partner, a better employee, a better friend, a better sister and daughter. But let's be real. We all have lives that pull us away from ourselves and we need reminders to take a few minutes each day. Summer is so much fun. And so bananas! And we Minnesotans try to cram as much as we can into a very short and beautiful season. Do you have a few minutes to yourself each day for self-care?I'm kicking off June wellness by sharing TED Talks that inspire me, talks to get us out of our day-to-day laser focus on doing great work and being great partners. My share for the Grey team this week is from TEDx Sydney and Magda Szubanki. Magda talks about courage. And don’t we all need to hear more about courage? Take the 15 minutes you’d spend doom-scrolling and appreciate Magda’s thoughts on where courage originates and how we dig deep to show up for ourselves and causes worth fighting for. #Wellness #Team #EmployeeWellness #EmployeeEngagement#Courage #Busy #SelfCare #TedXTalks #TEDx #Pride Alissa Henriksen Lucas Henriksen Nikki François Ali (Frank) Swegarden Nate Allen Brian Bjorgum Danielle Lindquist, CDSP Lisa Neakarse Brett Rose Vickie Skala
