Nurse Next Door Mississauga's Community Ambassador, Grace, attended the Mississauga Board of Trade (MBOT) CEO & Executive Series event on April 9th at the Port Credit Yacht Club. The event featured special guest, Anthony Longo, CEO of Longo's. It was a fantastic sold-out community event with some valuable insights and takeaways. #NurseNextDoor #NurseNextDoorCares #NurseNextDoorMississauga #Mississauga #MississaugaOntario

On 30 August 2023, in the Q&A portion of a webinar for Meetings Today (which should be available soon for viewing on demand) on which I spoke about on #risk and #contingency planning for #meetings and #events, I was asked about #boycotts of cities after discussing, as part of the content, laws enacted that are causing groups to reconsider what cities to select. I said there are many reasons groups choose not to send RFPs or select cities. One example: long-ago, very high New York City #HotelTaxes as a reason many groups didn't select the city for meetings. The result? Lowering of those taxes. In the content was the consideration of available #MedicalCare when selecting a destination. Today, news of the closing of the only hospital in the third largest Oregon city made me wonder - in addition to the crisis for the residents - a) how the DMO (#CVB) will sell the city and what they will tell groups about care and b) if not selecting a city for lack of care is 'boycotting.' It doesn't cost you anything to talk to them. Talk to HMS - Healthcare Margin Specialists. Give them a chance to give you comparison data. In my industry, it's common to hear, "Well, that's not the way we used to do it or That's not the way we've always done it." I'm all about, okay, so what can we do now going forward that will improve things, not always be stuck in, well, I got a GPO and that's all I need. You'll be surprised if you compare going through HMS - Healthcare Margin Specialists to not simply sticking with a GPO. - David Miller, Presbyterian Villages of MichiganWatch the entire interview betweenChris CarrollofHMS - Healthcare Margin SpecialistsandDavid MillerofPresbyterian Villages of Michiganhttps://lnkd.in/gUgb7KpQCONTACT US!📱 214-459-6297https://hmspecialists.com/#seniorcare#seniorliving#experience#growth#healthcare#opportunity#rfps#contracts#notforprofits#faithbased#costsavings

In my work for Coastal Creatives, I've heard many stories of genuine life transformations that happened just from an initial moment of getting involved in a creative activity. This is real, it works, and it deserves support. But one huge note of caution: there's often a policy fantasy or even an imperative to deliver measurable change over a 3 month or 6 month or 1 year programme. What we've witnessed in our work as external project support or evaluation partners is that change is slow. Looking at a 5 year timeline gives a much more accurate idea of the impact of this kind of work. We need programmes, not short-term projects; and we need evaluation that is given its proper timeline and scope. When that happens, the value for money of these kinds of interventions becomes even more astounding.
